MADAGASCAR

Visit some of the most isolated, unique and far-flung areas of Madagascar, and tick off some super endangered creatures. Madagascar was cut off from the African mainland well over 100 million years ago, the flora and fauna of Madagascar’s teeming forests have evolved independently, almost as though on another planet.

From deep, isolated rainforest, to the seriously strange deciduous forest on the Mozambique Channel; from the high altitude forest of the highlands, to the patches of unique forest on the northern tip. Nearly eighty percent of its species exist nowhere else on earth. Twelve thousand species of plants and 45 percent of its 270 bird species are endemic. We tailor make each unique tour to the mystical Island of Madagascar to find lemurs, chameleons, orchids, baobabs, aloes, geckoes, sifakas and octopus trees.

THE ENDANGERED EIGHTH CONTINENT

THE SAHARA’S SAHEL AND RAINFORESTS OF CENTRAL AFRICA

We have finally got this together after two years of planning. Join Conrad as we explore in depth two extremely contrasting ecosystems, in two of the most unvisited countries in Africa – Chad’s Sahel and the reinvigorated Zakouma National Park together with the Central African Republic’s dense and untouched rainforest in Dzanga-Sangha National Park. Think of the contrasts! Gorillas, Bongo, Forest elephants and thousands of Grey Parrots in a clearing in the Congo rainforest with Sahelian specials such as Koudroban giraffe, lions, savanna elephants and desert birds in their thousands. One could not ask for a bigger disparity in eco-systems. End of March through mid-April 2019; safely by private Cessna 208 Caravan private charters.

FIRE & ICE

THE ULTIMATE MOUNTAINS OF EAST AFRICA: RWENZORI AND NYIRAGONGO.

We have a proper expedition planned for the truly adventurous who want to see two ridiculously contrasting ultimate mountains and their hidden secrets: Firstly climbing the Rwenzori, the legendary “Mountains of the Moon” being the source of the Nile (according to the ancient Romans) with the largest ice cap in Africa (5000m high!) with the most extraordinary landscapes, plants and animals. Secondly the legendary fire-spuming crater of Nyiragongo – an active, massive lava lake in Africa’s rift valley. Not for the faint- hearted, but one of the ultimate expeditions imaginable. Two weeks including two nights of relaxing time watching safari animals in Queen Elizabeth National Park after the trekking – August 2019.

DEEP KALAHARI TENTH ANNIVERSARY

Our tenth departure of our legendary Botswana safari benchmark! We combine the highlights of the Kalahari with no-one in sight in a park the size of Switzerland, together with massive black-maned lions prowling the plains. We then head to the moon-scape of the Maghadighadi Pans and the sensational San Camp and then have four days exploring the wonders and exuberance of the Okavango Delta. Botswana does not get better than this! May 2019, only 8 guests.
